André Poli
Brazilian artist André Poli’s is a multi disciplinary visual artist, photographer, sculptor. His trajectory has been orbiting in recent years between painting, sculpture and industrial design. Through experimentation with materials and the merging of the three disciplines, he has distilled his current body of work. Poli’s work moves between the figurative and abstract creating a unique language.
Poli’s current work emerges from the speculation about how people relate and interact with the world. Sensualism and reflection are combined to create objects constructed out of polished black resin that acquire an iridescent shine. The pieces juxtapose highly reflective surfaces, smooth surfaces with deep textural areas that provide a sense of depth and create lush, imaginary landscapes. The brightness and light, that emerges from the work seems to illuminate the slightly hilly surfaces of the sculptures, creating visual tours rich in details. This relation throws the subject into a spiritual introspection, guided by the intuition that the world is an immensity that lives beyond our dimensions.
